Now a difficult book to find even on the internet. This hardback copy is in very nice condition. The 'turning point' of the war in Burma was the Imphal/Kohima campaign of 1944. For four months there was intense and savage fighting. The Japanese plan was to encircle and destroy the British and Indian positions before bursting into the plain and seizing Imphal. A great read. Wings On My Sleeve 1978-Eric Brown
This is a hardback copy of this much sought after book printed in 1978. During Eric's lifetime, he made a record-breaking 2,407 aircraft carrier landings and survived eleven plane crashes. One of Britain's few German-speaking airmen, he went to Germany in 1945 to test the Nazi jets, interviewing (among others) Hermann Goering and Hanna Reitsch. A great read with very good reviews. Kiwi Spitfire Ace-Jack Rae
Jack Rae gained his wings in New Zealand in 1940 and was posted to Britain as a Sergeant Pilot. He converted to Spitfires in early 1941, becoming an 'ace' and completing more than 50 operational sorties with 485 (NZ) Squadron. The Silver Spitfire-Tom Neil
Following the D-Day landings, Battle of Britain hero Tom Neil was assigned as an RAF liaison to an American fighter squadron. As the Allies pushed east, Neil commandeered an abandoned Spitfire as his own personal aeroplane. Erasing any evidence of its provenance and stripping it down to bare metal, it became the RAF's only silver Spitfire. Read this gripping story. I have two copies of this book. Both in as new condition, one an unsigned version, but the other is Multi Signed by veterans who served during the Normandy landings, and at Arnhem amongst others, but my favourite is the signature of Percy George who landed on D-Day and made it all the way to Berlin.
