Kursk Cauldron Of Fire by Nicolas Trudgian1
July 1943,300 miles south of Moscow,the grasslands of Kursk witness the greatest tank battle in history as 6,000 tanks meet in conflict. With support from ground-attack aircraft of the Luftwaffe, German panzers advance through the wreckage of Russian armour. However, this battle was eventually won by the Soviets. 31 Juillet 1944, Le Large
Here we have a very rare print by Dutch artist Lam van T 'Hof, portraying the beautifully sleek design of the P38 Lightning. Painted to commemorate the pilot Antoine de Saint Exupery, who took off in an unarmed P-38 on 31 July 1944 on a reconnaissance mission from an airbase on Corsica. Anthony Saunders action packed painting, 'To Hell and Back' was specially commissioned to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Operation Tidal Wave, paying tribute to the heroes who flew the epic Ploesti mission. To Sink The Bismark- Gerald Coulson
On 25th May 1941. The mission to find and sink the massive German warship Bismarck was launched. The weather was very bad , storm force winds, rain,and increasingly heavy seas. With awful flying conditons, Ark Royal launched its second strike of the day of fifteen swordfish, four each from 810 and 818 squadrons and seven from 820 squadron. Rising Sun by Robert Taylor
Saburo Sakai, the legendary Zero pilot, enlisted in the Navy in 1933, age 16. He was to take part in many major battles during WWII, but was badly wounded on August 7, 1942, losing an eye. Despite this, he returned to fly again. In over 200 aerial combats, Sakai never lost a wingman. Credited with 64 confirmed aerial victories. On July 21st 1951 WB188, the Hawker PIO67 Prototype, made its first flight from Boscombe Down, flown by Hawker Chief Test Pilot and WWII fighter ace, Squadron leader Neville Duke DSO, OBE, DFC, AFC. This one has a great local theme with the Lavenham Windmill drawn with, a B-17 flying overhead. (Photos available if required). Hub Zemke leads P47 Thunderbolts of the 56th Fighter Group on a low-level interdiction mission shortly after D-Day, 1944. Below, American troops move through a recently liberated French village towards the front lines. Eric Nicolson, the only pilot of the Battle of Britain awarded the Victoria Cross, is shown scrambling out of his stricken 249 Sqn Hurricane. Jaguars Over Bosnia-Michael Rondot
If anyone is going to paint Jaguars well, it is going to be Michael Rondot. A 25-year RAF career as a reconnaissance and ground-attack pilot. Best known as a Jaguar pilot, he also flew the Canberra PR9 and Hawker Hunter. He flew combat operations in Jaguar fighter-bombers during the first Gulf War in 1991.
