Eric Nicolson, the only pilot of the Battle of Britain awarded the Victoria Cross, is shown scrambling out of his stricken 249 Sqn Hurricane. Fired on by an Me110, wounded in the head and foot, and his engine was ablaze. Almost out of the plane, he saw another enemy aircraft and got back into the cockpit, chased it and destroyed it.
